Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said late on May 2 that he believed the new cabinet led by Prime Minister Milos Vucevic would carry out its plan and program.

"I believe in the government, I believe in its successes," Vucic told public broadcasting service RTS, congratulating the prime minister and all the ministers on their election. He underscored that for him the most important thing was for the Serbian government to achieve the results it had set for itself. Among them, as he put it, are a higher standard of living and higher salaries and pensions for citizens.

Vucic went on to say that the upcoming visit from Chinese President Xi Jinping was a great honor and added that "the world's most powerful man" was coming to the country. "I am overjoyed that he (Xi) is coming to Serbia. A great honor for Serbia and a great chance for us," said Vucic and recalled that Xi visited Serbia in 2016.

"Over the next five years, almost all products will be eligible for exports to China. Do you know what that means for our country? Those are great things for us. I will ask President Xi two or three things, to see whether we can relaunch locomotive and train factories. We have people who are well-versed in that, (and it would be good) to have one of the Chinese companies invest in Serbia," said Vucic.

The Chinese president will pay an official two-day visit to Serbia on May 7 and 8.
